Watch the Amazing Rescue of 5 Beached Whales

August 12, 2019

Five pilot wales were spotted washed up on the shores of Redington Beach, FL. Deputies from FWC and professionals from the Clearwater Marine Aquarium along with hundreds of volunteers helped to get the whales back to safety. Pilot whales travel in packs, so when one becomes beached, often there are multiple. 3 of the whales were brought back into deeper water by boat, and were tagged with GPS for further monitoring. 2 where brought to a rehabilitation center in Tarpon Springs.

Great job to all of the officials as well as the volunteers (most of which were vacationers enjoying the beach), who led these whales to safety.
