Q: Do I need a fishing license to scallop?
A: Yes. You need a saltwater license but if you book with us, the license is included in the price!
Q: How many scallops can I keep?
A: You can keep 2 gallons of whole scallops per person OR 10 gallons per boat, which ever is less.
Q: How do I clean a scallop?
A: Cleaning a scallop is very easy but when you have hundreds of them, it may take some time. At our docks, we have scallop cleaning crews to do the work for you! They charge $6 a gallon and will clean, rinse and bag them for you.
Q: Where is the best place to go scalloping?
A: Homosassa and Crystal River is scallop country. The hardest part is locating exactly where the best areas are in the Gulf to get an abundance. Our guides are trained and do it everyday so they have the knowledge and history where the prime areas are.
Q: Can I take my own boat to go scalloping?
A: Absolutely! Just be cautious of learning the waterways, the laws and the required licenses needed. Hiring a charter company is a proven way to get the best experience for your money and also not having to worry about ending up damaging your boat on rocks or bringing the equipment needed since we provide everything.
